think our nation is very fascinating because it has been undergoing a series of
revolutions recently. In Libya there was a civil war about the tyranny of the
government and the peoples anger with the laws and restrictions. It all started
by one man, a single man, getting his weight scale taken away. He was at market
and he did not have a permit for his scale, and so the market warden took the
scale, the man was angry that he could no longer weigh anything to get the
proper amount of money, so that he could pay off his debt. He went out in front
of a government center with a tub of gas and lighter, he poured it all over
himself and lit himself on fire. He showed people to stand up for themselves and
he triggered a revolution that would innovate an entire nation.
Some questions and Answers about Libya:
- Describe
the impact colonialism has had on your nation (How were the people of your
country affected by food, art, music, clothing)?
The people of this country were altered by the fact that the Italians had just
come to their country paved roads, made houses, and built on their land and just
settled there. They populated approximately one fifth of the country population
during World War Two. The long term impacts of this were having new surface
cultures introduced to the Libyans. This is something that will last because of
the fact that some people in Libya have adopted some of these small costumes
from the italians. - Describe
the impact colonialism has had on your native (language, religion, technology,
etc).
The italians brought a different language, more religions, and better technology
and military supplies. They used tanks and machine guns to overtake Libyan
forces in order to overtake and control the country. This technology brought
Libya the advances it needed, but lacked at the time, and having these new
technological advances handed to them b y the Italians has brought them into the
advanced without having all the stress of having to make, create, or buy
them. - Is
it part of any global groups (Commonwealth of Nations, United Nations, European
Union, et cetera)?

THE STORY OF MIRRA-(A fictional Narrative)
My name is Mirra, I am sixteen
years old. I live in Ajdabiya, Libya. Ajdabiya is the Seventh largest Libyan
city, located in the Al Wahat region. We have around
one-hundred-thirty-four-thousand people in our city. I live in a family of
seven, my mother, father, Kayne, Sirte, Myself, Misrata, and Sabha. Kayne and
Sirte are both older than I. Kayne, my older brother is twenty-one, and Sirte,
my older sister, is eighteen. Misrata and Sabha are both my younger sisters,
Misrata is ten, and Sabha is fourteen. Today I am writing about myself to start
a diary to tell my children and future kin what it was like to live in my time.
I am going to be married off soon and I always want to remember that and have my
family remember that.
12/4/12-
Today, before lunch my fiance showed up. My father, Dakwah, Was settling the
prices of the wedding and the price for my hand with Kaf Deck and his kin. We
are to be Married in four months time, at the city center of Sabha, where he
lives. His residence is in one of the richer of the neighborhoods there for the
fact that his kin is very wealthy and he is very wealthy and has a very high
residing job. He works for An Khade, As a government warfare engineer. He is in
charge of finding materials and overseeing the building of nuclear bombs. He met
my father through the Ankahade and Bedrokka alliance last year. He instantly
knew that my hand would be his for marriage by this years end. I am a little
unnerved by the marriage, I had no choice and no say, I fear that I will not be
perfect or I will mess up. My hopes and my families hopes depend upon marital
success.
12/9/12-
Today we went into town to look at dresses. The drive from our house was not
far, but It felt as if it took days. Once we had gotten to the stores; we pulled
to a stop in front of Mallika's Dress shop. Malika was the seamstress who had
sewn my mothers dress before mine. We walked into the shop and the many silks
and clothes caught my eyes. The store danced with color and it displayed sheer
light and brightness. As we passed the rows upon rows of colored clothes and
laces, A short and old woman walked out of the back.
“Hello,
Can I help you?,” The woman asked.
“Yes,”
My mother began,” We would like to fit my daughter Mirra for a wedding
dress.
They
then went into discussion on colors and theme, I wondered off into the isles of
clothes. After what felt like hours of looking and wondering, I fell upon a
brightly patterned silk cloth. It was A very bright red with gold trim. The
sheer that was set with it was a sheer orange gold. I pulled the reams of cloth
out very gently. I then proceded to walk while balanceing them on my head, over
to my Mother and the Woman.
“Excuse
me, I would like to use these.” I said, as I held out the
fabrics.
“I
think those are perfect, darling.” My mother replied, “I think we are finished
here.”
We
walked out of the store, We are to come back in four weeks to pick up the
completed dress. My wedding feels to be so soon.
