The history of Libya is quite a fascinating story. The Italians were the first people to colonize Libya and that lasted from 1910 to 1947. Now the Italians had to fight several other countries before finally colonizing Libya. But it all started when the Italians attacked Tripoli this battle lasted 20 long years as the Arab Libyans fought the Italians. This fight was very brutal, the Italians victimized the Libyans by stepping on copies of the Koran, filling their wells with cement, and burning down peoples homes. Thousands of other Libyans were taken to concentration camps and their possessions taken from them. On October 26, 1911, the Italians shipped thousands of men, women and children to small Italian islands. The Italians continued to victimize the Libyans by laying over 170,000 landmines around Libya.
